Where Wine, Community, and Curiosity Converge

White River Junction's gathering place for wine tastings, craft cocktails, classes, and local makers since New Year's Eve 2022.

About Us

On New Year's Eve 2022, Putnam's Vineyard opened its doors in White River Junction, VT with a clear purpose: pour great wine, tell the stories behind every bottle, and give the Upper Valley a place to actually gather. That mission has aged beautifully. With a 4.7-star rating across more than 200 reviews, this spot has become a genuine community hub, one where you might find a couple sharing a tasting flight one evening and a crowd of plant enthusiasts at a DIY workshop the next.

The atmosphere rewards curiosity. Puzzles, games, and conversation starters fill the room alongside a thoughtfully curated selection of wines and craft beverages. The bartenders know their craft, the food is made to complement what's in your glass, and the events calendar keeps things genuinely unpredictable in the best way. Local entrepreneurs and makers rotate through as pop-up vendors, giving every visit a slightly different texture.

This is not a place that simply sells wine off a shelf. It is a tasting room, a classroom, a private event venue, a gift destination, and a neighborhood living room all folded into one address on South Main Street.

What We Offer

Putnam's Vineyard runs the full spectrum from a quiet Tuesday morning coffee to a lively Saturday evening cocktail. The wine bar and tasting room anchors everything, offering a curated pour list alongside a retail shop where you can take your favorites home. Custom wine orders mean you can source something specific without the guesswork.

Education is woven into the DNA here. Wine School classes break down varietals, regions, and pairings in a welcoming, no-snobbery environment. Vine School takes a different angle, covering plant care and DIY projects for the creatively inclined. Brunch service brings the experience into daylight hours, and private event hosting transforms the space into a fully personalized setting for celebrations, corporate gatherings, and more.

Pop-up vendor events showcase local makers on a rotating basis, and gift cards make it easy to share the experience with someone who deserves a great evening out.

Why Choose Us

Open since New Year's Eve 2022, Putnam's has built a loyal Upper Valley following in just over two years.

"What a cool spot! Recently attended an inspired “Plant Parenthood” event to benefit Planned Parenthood and had a great time. Cocktails were yummy, event was fun, and I was so excited to find such an incredible place right there in WRJ. Plenty of people were hanging out there on their own & working or reading. I didn’t eat but the food looked amazing. Tons of puzzles, games & books to keep you out of a trouble on a rainy spring day in Vermont! Loved the seed packets. Clearly it worked🙂"

"Putnam's Vineyard is a really unique spot with a great atmosphere. The food was delicious, the wine was incredible, and the bartenders clearly know their craft. The decor and overall vibe are very cool, and every staff member I interacted with was friendly and welcoming. The only downside for me was the number of children present. While I understand this is not necessarily something the vineyard can fully control, it was surprising for a wine focused venue. During my visit, kids were running around throughout the space to the point where they were difficult to avoid and were the primary source of noise. If you are looking for a quiet place to unwind with good food and wine, it is worth knowing that the atmosphere may not be as relaxing as you might expect. As for pricing, it is definitely on the expensive side. That said, I felt the quality of the food, wine, service, and overall experience justified the cost. Overall, I would absolutely return for the excellent food, wine, knowledgeable staff, and unique setting, just with different expectations regarding the atmosphere."

"Tapas and a great selection of adult beverages. Whether you like wine, whiskey, or small brewery IPAs you'll be able to find something you'll like here. The room is filled with puzzles, games, and trivia if you've got idle hands or want to exercise your brain. I wish there was a score higher than 5 stars for the atmosphere. It's relaxed upscale boho meats greenhouse vibe with swings, a pergola, and a variety of seating arrangements and options."

"Such an incredible atmosphere! It was like walking into an indoor garden. The space was comfortable, cozy and beautiful. Very easy to see how much thought and effort was put into the design of the space. The wines were incredible, all very unique and special in their own ways and the bartender was very knowledgeable on each of them. This was just an unplanned stop for us on a long road trip, but if we ever have the opportunity I would love to go again. Thank you for the incredible hospitality and peaceful space to stop."

"the space is fantastic to be in and very aesthetically pleasing. there’s many different options for seating and they seem to host a variety of events. we specifically came for brunch but were underwhelmed by the options and actual food. if you want an actual meal i’d check out other places but it’s nice to check out for a snack or nibble."
